Blonde, an upcoming biopic starring Ana de Armas as pop culture icon Marilyn Monroe, has received a new teaser from Netflix. Blonde will explore how the Hollywood industry’s violence caused Monroe to lose her sense of identity, based on Joyce Carol Oates’ bestselling historical novel of the same name.
Norma Jeane Mortenson, born in Los Angeles, California in 1926, acquired the name Marilyn Monroe and entered the film industry in 1945, swiftly becoming the most recognised sex symbol in cinema.
Monroe enjoyed a thriving career in the 1940s and 1950s as an actress, singer, and model, captivating audiences everywhere with her wide smile and alluring eyes. Behind the success facade, though, there was a person feeling pressure to behave in line with expectations, especially given the fact that she worked in a field where women are frequently objectified and their worth is correlated with their attractiveness. Monroe, who was only 36 years old when she passed away from a barbiturate overdose in 1962, had a troubled personal life and struggled with mental illness. Sadly, it was determined that Monroe likely committed suicide.
Blonde on Netflix will depict a fictitious account of Monroe’s life that depicts both sides of her personality, as the new teaser makes clear. Yes, Monroe was a perpetually jovial sex symbol who encouraged millions of women to pursue their dreams of fame, becoming a pop cultural figure who lives on until today. She was a young lady, imprisoned as she was in a cruel industry that exploited her body to advertise new goods and forced her to conform to society’s standards. Blonde will reveal flaws that are essentially still prevalent in Hollywood by recasting some of Monroe’s most famous roles.
The cast of Blonde also features Caspar Phillipson as President John F. Kennedy, Bobby Cannavale as the Ex-Athlete (possibly Joe DiMaggio, Marilyn Monroe’s baseball player husband), and Academy Award winner Adrien Brody as the Playwright (presumably playwright Arthur Miller). The movie was made by Plan B Entertainment, a production company owned by Brad Pitt.
