Season 2 of The Summer I Turned Pretty has begun filming, as shown in a recent behind-the-scenes image. The Summer I Turned Pretty debuted on Prime Video on June 17 for the first time. A tweet from the series’ official Twitter account contained the announcement. The post includes a photo of series star Lola Tung working behind the scenes with author Jenny Han, whose books the series is based on, and it says, “And we’re rolling on season 2.”
The identical image was also shared with the description “Prime Video Instagram.” The caption reads, “We are back in Cousins Beach! Season 2 is underway.” Fans, whose passion and excitement can already be apparent in the comment area of both postings, find the start of filming so soon after the first season’s debut to be nearly too much to bear.
Following 16-year-old Isabel “Belly” Conklin (Lola Tung) as she travels to Cousins Beach with her mother Laurel (Jackie Chung) and brother Steven (Sean Kaufman) to spend the summer with the Fischer family, is the subject of the television series. She is, however, entangled in a love triangle this summer with Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), one of Susannah Fischer’s (Rachel Blanchard) two sons, and Conrad (Christopher Briney).
This isn’t Han’s first adaptation of her writing; she also authored To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and its two sequels, which turned into a beloved Netflix film trilogy and helped launch the careers of actors like Lana Condor and Noah Centineo. As the series’ showrunner, the author nevertheless played a more active part in this version. Jackie Chung, Rachel Blanchard, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, Sean Kaufman, and Alfredo Narciso also appear in The Summer I Turned Pretty alongside Tung.
Season 2 of The Summer I Turned Pretty is now filming, so additional images as well as hints and teases about what to anticipate next may be arriving. The timing of season 2’s filming, meanwhile, is consistent with spectators’ expectations for a probable summer 2023 release date for the season. It makes sense for season 2 to release around the same time next year since season 1 debuted in the summer and the series has a summer vibe. The specifics of season 2’s plot are as of yet unknown.
