In the brand-new series Daredevil: Born Again, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil will formally return to our screens. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige made the announcement about the Disney+ show at the comic book titan’s presentation at San Diego Comic-Con. He formally confirmed the previous rumours that a Daredevil reunion was in the works by outlining Marvel’s intentions for the upcoming phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which now firmly incorporates Disney+ shows. Nearly five years after Netflix cancelled its Daredevil series after three seasons, Hell’s Kitchen’s favourite crime-fighting attorney will finally make a triumphant return to living rooms.
A wave of Marvel projects, including the original Daredevil series, were all cancelled by Netflix as Disney, which owns Marvel, prepared to establish its own streaming service. Fans hoped that when Daredevil officially moved from Netflix to Disney+, along with the other series in the Marvel/Netflix partnership, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher, and crossover series The Defenders, the show would be revived. At the time, Marvel teased that it looked “forward to more adventures with the Man without Fear in the future.”
Cox will return for the upcoming 18-episode series, alongside Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin, after previously playing the villain in prior Marvel films.
Matt Corman and Chris Ord, co-creators of Covert Affairs and co-showrunners of The Enemy Within, The Brave, and Containment, have reportedly been tapped to write and executive produce the project.
We’ll have to wait and see if Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll reprise their roles as Daredevil’s friends, Foggy and Karen. What we do know for certain is that Daredevil: Born Again will be released on Disney+ in the spring of 2024.
