Virgin River season 4’s 12 episodes are all available on Netflix right now, and they’re just as good for binge-watching as their predecessors. The cliffhangers in Season 3 are undoubtedly what has kept audiences interested in the lives of the characters in the picturesque town. Virgin River is still a perfectly binge-worthy show for many people despite its predictable qualities.

Virgin River’s fourth season premieres soon after the shocking third season ending, which left us with a lot of unanswered issues. The new season’s first episode introduces us to Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack (Martin Henderson), who are excitedly preparing to have a baby soon. While worrying about whether the child is his, Jack begins to experience nightmares. He tries to get through them by being there for Mel during her high-risk pregnancy. Over the course of the season, Jack’s mental health troubles also receive greater attention.

Season 4 also revolves around Hope’s (Annette O’Toole) recovery from a catastrophic brain injury. Brady’s (Ben Hollingsworth) imprisonment also plays a significant role in the season. Jack continues to receive a lot of attention as he prepares to parent Mel and goes above and beyond to ensure her safety throughout her pregnancy. Yet, many important mysteries are anticipated to be resolved in the season finale, including whether Mel is carrying Jack’s child and, of course, who actually shot Jack in the previous season.

Mel and Jack had excellent chemistry together on-screen, experiencing all the highs and lows of a realistic, yet magnified, romance. With that small town friendship really striking home and warming the soul in these difficult times, there are some heartwarming moments strewn throughout the show as well.

The fact that the plot is outrageous without coming off as cheesy is possibly the main factor in its success. Furthermore, practically every episode ends on a cliffhanger, making it a highly captivating piece of entertainment. So, unless you intend to binge-watch several episodes at once, don’t turn it on. The show is a famous illustration of the melodramatic melodrama that adds to the theatric allure of soap opera tales that explore emotionally rich topics.

It’s significant to notice that the first few Virgin River season 4 episodes don’t provide many clarifications on Mel’s pregnancy, Christopher’s whereabouts, etc. The upcoming season, though, teases just enough drama to keep viewers interested. Overall, the series is a bit underwhelming that, while occasionally dipping into the sweet spot of trashy but compelling viewing, mostly errs on the side of competence.
