Based on the Wondery podcast, Peacock has scheduled a second episode of its true-crime anthology series Dr. Death.
Based on the most recent third season of the podcast, the “Miracle Man” plot will be featured in the upcoming season. Ashley Dr. Death’s Season 2 showrunner, writer, and executive producer is Michel Hoban, who also wrote and produced the previous season. Under the terms of his overall contract with UCP, Season 1’s showrunner, writer, and executive producer Patrick Macmanus will oversee the production of Season 2 through his Littleton Road Productions label.

Paolo Macchiarini, a charismatic surgeon known for his cutting-edge procedures that earn him the moniker “Miracle Man,” will be the focus of season 2. The distinction between personal and professional life starts to blur when investigative journalist Benita Alexander approaches him for a story, changing her life forever. A group of doctors halfway around the world also uncover surprising discoveries that bring everything about the “Miracle Man” into question as she learns how far Paolo will go to keep his secrets hidden.

Joshua Jackson played Christopher Duntsch, a neurosurgeon who was charged with killing and severely disfiguring a number of his victims, in Season 1 of Dr. Death, which made its Peacock debut last July. Leading the supporting cast were Christian Slater, Alec Baldwin, Grace Gummer, and AnnaSophia Robb. With Ashley Michel Hoban (The Girl From Plainville) taking over as writer and showrunner for Season 2, Season 1 writer and showrunner Patrick Macmanus will serve as an executive producer.

Based on the first season of the Wondery podcast, Dr. Death’s first season probed the mind of disgraced Texas neurosurgeon Dr. Christopher Duntsch, played by Joshua Jackson, who over the course of his career killed and severely injured 38 patients. The show received a Critics Choice Award nomination for Best Limited Series.

According to Lisa Katz, President Scripted Content, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, “The first season of Dr. Death blew us away as we dived into the dark, twisted mind of Dr. Christopher Duntsch and the team that set out to defeat him.” We know we’re in good hands with our colleagues at Wondery, UCP, Patrick Macmanus, and new season EP/showrunner Ashley Michel Hoban as we follow a globe-trotting physician who seduces the medical community in the latest episode of this incredibly addictive anthology series.
In addition to Todd Black, Aaron Hart, Hernan Lopez, Steve Tisch, and Marshall Lewy for Wondery, other executive producers for Escape Artists include Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, and Taylor Latham. The studio is UCP, a part of Universal Studio Group.
