The new Netflix film will be directed by Davis Yates. Yates is most known as the main filmmaker of the Harry Potter franchise, having directed four Harry Potter films as well as Fantastic Beasts and its successors, both released and upcoming. Wells Tower wrote the script for Pain Hustles.

Liza Drake (Blunt) is a high-school dropout who obtains a position with a failing pharmaceutical start-up in a decaying strip mall in Central Florida, dreaming of a better life for herself and her little daughter. Liza’s charm, bravery, and determination propel the company and her into the high life, where she eventually finds herself at the centre of a fatal criminal conspiracy.
The film will be partially based on The Pain Hustlers, an interactive piece published in the New York Times in 2018. The article was written by Evan Hughes, who defines it as “The New York Times Magazine, “The Pain Hustlers,” a feature about the Insys Therapeutics tale, published in May 2018, before the case against the company’s top executives went to trial.”
Who is in the cast of Pain Hustlers?
Only Emily Blunt has been confirmed to star in Pain Hustlers as of May 2022. Blunt will play Liza Drake, a single mother who establishes her own business and finds herself at the centre of a criminal plot after its success. Blunt’s most recent films are A Quiet Place and its sequel, as well as Jungle Cruise. In addition, she will appear in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming star-studded film Oppenheimer.
