Christian Bale, who plays Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder, revealed in a recent interview that portions of his scenes with Jeff Goldblum and Peter Dinklage had been removed. Dinklage played Eitri, a dwarf king and weapon maker for Thor, the thunder god, in Avengers: Endgame.

“Taika just created a really, really, good cast,” says Bale, praising the film’s director Taika Waititi, who also helmed the critically acclaimed Thor: Ragnarok. “And everybody else I’m not mentioning as well,” he continued. “I got to work with Peter Dinklage. That’s not in the final film, but I got to work with him. He’s fantastic.” he said.

Bale mentioned that he “got to work with Jeff Goldblum, he’s not in the final film either. As you see lots of stuff ends up on the cutting room floor, even though it is beautiful, brilliant stuff.” The revelation of Goldblum’s departure will undoubtedly surprise fans who loved his performance as the Grandmaster in Thor: Ragnarok. It’s undeniable that Goldblum contributed some of his own eccentric comedy to his role in the first Thor movie, and there’s no doubt that the colourful Grandmaster and the moody Gorr would have made for at least one entertaining interaction.

In a previous interview, Goldblum mentioned the following about whether he appeared in the most recent Thor movie or not, “Am I going to be in Love and Thunder? The truth is, and I can say it now because the trailer has come out, I appear in it,” he said. “It’s my most challenging role to date, and I believe my highest accomplishment. I’m not seen visually. You never see me. And you don’t hear me. Nor am I referred to, I believe, in any scene. I am sensed, only vibrationally. It’s up to the viewer to pick up on that…But you will feel something, and it will be me.”

The much anticipated sequel to Thor: Ragnarok, Thor: Love and Thunder, continues Thor’s adventure after the events of Avengers: Endgame. The adorable deity, played by Chris Hemsworth again, travels across space with Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord and his crew. Natalie Portman, who played Jane, Thor’s ex-girlfriend and recently minted Mjolnir, Thor’s hammer, joins the cast as well.
