Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles Season 2 has been renewed by Netflix

Samurai Rabbit The Usagi Chronicles

Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles premiered on Netflix in late April 2022, based on the Stan Sakai comic book series Usagi Yojimbo. We now know that the series will return for a second season.
The animated series was first ordered in 2020 by Netflix Animation, Atomic Monster Productions, Dark Horse Entertainment, Gaumont Animation, and 88 Pictures. The first season’s ten episodes focused on Yuichi, a rabbit teenager who had to team up with his loyal companions to defend the city of Neo Edo. According to top 10 data, the series was in the top ten for children in the majority of regions around the world. It was in the top ten for kids in the United States for 19 days before dropping out. It aired for 16 days in the United Kingdom. Jamaica, the Bahamas, Portugal, the Czech Republic, and Denmark are among the top performers for the title.

In the end, audience reviews were conflicting; it presently has a 57 percent RottenTomatoes rating and a 6.6 on IMDb. While many were quick to point out that the series isn’t as closely related to the comics as some would’ve anticipated, others thought it stood up well, with one critic in particular remarking that it “is amazing as an inventive exploration of Sakai’s world.” For those who don’t know, the series is set in the future and has a different protagonist while the comics take place in the past.

Has Season 2 of Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles been renewed?

We now have confirmation that the show will return a few months after its initial release, but details on what a second season will entail are scarce. Given the nature of Netflix animation and previous renewals, it’s likely that this second batch of episodes isn’t far away and was part of an initial upfront order.
Doug Langdale and Candie Kelty Langdale remain co-creators on the project, with Darren Barnet, Aleks Le, Shelby Rabara, and Mallory Low reprising their roles as voice actors.

The announcement was made alongside Netflix’s summer kids 2022 slate, which also included the renewal of Team Zenko Go for a second season, Mighty Express returning for a seventh season and a new spin-off special, and the renewal of The Creature Cases.
