More adventures are in store for Cuphead and Mugman, as Netflix has announced that new episodes of The Cuphead Show will debut on August 19, 2022. During Netflix’s Geeked Week, a small preview of the impending new batch of episodes was presented. It promises to carry on the adventures of the popular video gaming pair as they encounter new individuals and get into a variety of hilarious situations.

The series, which is based on the incredibly challenging yet wildly successful side-scrolling run-and-gun game Cuphead, which was launched in 2017, follows the two mugs (Tru Valentino and Frank Todaro) as they embark on a number of different adventures while attempting to avoid the Devil’s clutches. The iconic Max Fleischer cartoons from the 1930s influenced Cuphead’s aesthetic, which has since helped the game sell over 4 million copies. Additionally, it won a BAFTA Games award and Best Indie Game at the 2017 Game Awards. The sitcom follows the antics of Cuphead, a lovable but impulsive scamp, and Mugman, who is careful but susceptible to influence.

The Cuphead Show made its Netflix debut in February and gained popularity right away thanks to its slapstick humour, tributes to vintage animation, and development of the game’s characters. With considerably more of Grey DeLisle’s Ms. Chalice this time around, season 2 promises to have even more of the heart that made the first one a fan favourite. She appeared prominently in a series teaser alongside Cuphead and Mugman on Netflix’s Geeked Week in the past, and depending on the day, she served as the pair’s occasional criminal accomplice as well as the voice of reason keeping them out of trouble.

The Cuphead Show! also stars Like Millington-Drake as the scheming Devil who employs a variety of tactics to win the souls of Valentino and Todaro, who play the pair of mugs. Joe Hanna, Chris Wylde, Rick Zieff, and Wayne Brady are also participating in the series. Lighthouse Studios, who handled a large portion of the animation, gave the programme a look that harkens back to the old-school Fleischer rubber hose-animated cartoons while also smoothing down some of their more jagged edges.

Deeki Deke, Clay Morrow, Adam Paloian, Cosmo Segurson, and Dave Wasson all contributed to the series’ writing. Along with C.J. Kettler of King Features, the creators of Cuphead, Chad and Jared Moldenhauer, also serve as executive producers on the show. Together, Wasson and Segurson bring to the project their expertise in animation, which includes work on Mickey Mouse Shorts and Rocco’s Modern Life: Static Cling.
