Horizon 2074 appears to be the title of an upcoming Netflix TV show based on Guerilla’s Horizon series.
Jeff Grubb discovered the name on the website of the Director’s Guild of Canada. According to Video Games Chronicle, the list includes the names of 27 crew members associated with the project. First assistant director Jack Boem, who worked on Amazon’s The Boys and the recent Resident Evil film, is among them.
In May, it was revealed that a Horizon TV show was in the works. Sony revealed several non-game PlayStation projects during a PlayStation Business Briefing. These included an Amazon God of War series and a Gran Turismo film.

According to industry insider Jeff Grubb, the show will be called Horizon 2074, presumably after the year in which the adaptation will take place. Or, at the very least, one of its timelines. Grubb has also revealed that the show will take place across two timelines, one roughly at the same time as the games, so 1000 years in the future, and another detailing when the world begins to fall apart. If the name is any indication, the year is 2074.

Grubb mentioned the show’s title and premise in addition to the fact that a list of the people involved has been made available on the website of the Director’s Guild of Canada Ontario. First assistant director Jack Boem, who worked on Amazon’s The Boys, and art director Michele Brady, known for her work on Saw 2 and The Expanse, are two of the most prominent figures associated with the project.

Horizon 2074 is rumoured to be a retelling of the events from Zero Dawn and Forbidden West rather than the faithful remake HBO’s The Last Of Us appears to be. Probably just the first game for the time being, though there’s a chance that parts of both games end up in the first season of Horizon 2074 as the show won’t always follow Aloy in a linear fashion.

As was already said, Sony is very much at the forefront of the adaptation of several games at the moment. Numerous PlayStation Studios titles are being ported to other platforms, including Twisted Metal, God of War, and Gran Turismo. Outside of the Sony sphere, Netflix will also soon be getting a BioShock movie, though specifics about that project have not yet been made public.
