Moses Ingram joins Natalie Portman in Apple’s limited series Lady In The Lake

Obi-Wan Kenobi stars Moses Ingram has landed her next project. The Emmy nominee will star in the Apple TV+ limited series Lady in the Lake alongside Natalie Portman, another former Star Wars actress. Lupita Nyong’o, who was initially slated for the part but withdrew in May, is replaced by Ingram.

The presently in development series is based on the #1 New York Times bestseller by Laura Lippman. It takes place in 1960s Baltimore, where an unsolved murder forces housewife and mother Maddie Schwartz (Portman) to reinvent herself as an investigative journalist and puts her in conflict with Ingram’s Sherwood, a hardworking woman juggling motherhood, numerous jobs, and a passionate commitment to furthering Baltimore’s Black progressive agenda.

Ingram, in addition to playing a significant role in the Disney+ series, also starred in the Netflix drama The Queen’s Gambit. She portrayed Jolene, the main character and Beth Harmon’s (Anya Taylor-Joy) childhood friend, in the television series.

Filmmaker Alma Har’el, best known for her 2019 drama Honey Boy, will direct and co-write Lady in the Lake. For the series, she will work with Dre Ryan, who wrote The Man In The High Castle. Crazyrose and Bad Wolf America will produce the Endeavor Content film Lady in the Lake. Through her new production firm Zusa and Portman, Har’el will serve as executive producer alongside Christopher Leggett.

Along with her producing partner Sophie Mas, Crazyrose founders Nathan Ross and the late Jean-Marc Vallée, Julie Gardner for Bad Wolf, Amy J. Kaufman and Layne Eskridge for POV Entertainment, Yakin, and Lippman, Portman also serves as an executive producer.The television project is both Portman’s and Har’el’s debut on television.
