Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen, who play Obi-Wan Kenobi, are open to the concept of continuing the stories of their characters in a second season of the Disney+ Star Wars series. Speaking with British GQ, McGregor pondered on playing his Star Wars character again for the first time in 17 years while working with Christensen on the Obi-Wan Kenobi movie.

McGregor added that if the chance occurred, he would definitely perform his character. He said, “If I could do one of these every now and again, I’d just be happy about it.” McGregor also discussed what it was like to work with Christensen again after such a long period, and how he felt in their first moment together as the Sith Lord Darth Vader. “I got a jolt of fear that made me six years old again,” he said. “I’ve never experienced that before. I just about crapped my pants.”

In an interview with RadioTimes, Christensen expressed his desire to return to his Star Wars role for a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi or another project that features his character, noting that while Lucasfilm had billed Obi-Wan as a six-part limited series, there might still be more tales to be told. He said, “Well, it was definitely conceived as a standalone story. But I would love to continue with this character. You know, I think there’s certainly more there to explore and I would be so excited to get to do so.”

The cast of “Obi-Wan” Season 2 is fully committed, but the show’s production crew is showing a little more reluctance. “For this one, we really did conceive it to be a limited series. It really is one big story with a beginning, middle and end. So, we weren’t thinking past that,” Deborah Chow, the series’ director, recently explained to Entertainment Tonight.

Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm and executive producer of “Obi-Wan,” agrees with Chow, telling ET, “Well, frankly, we did set out to do that as a limited series. But I think if there’s huge engagement and people really want more Obi-Wan, we’ll certainly give that consideration because the fans, they speak to us. And if we feel like, ‘OK, there’s a real reason to do this; it’s answering the why then,’ then we’ll do it. But we’ll see.”
