What We Know So Far About Netflix’s Live-Action Series PlayStation’s Horizon

Horizon

Netflix is making a big push into video games, and in addition to actual video games, the streaming service is working on a number of adaptations of popular titles. Horizon is one such project, which will be a live-action adaptation of the Horizon game series, which follows Aloy on her quest across a post-apocalyptic America populated mostly by mechanical creatures.
At this time, no directors or cast members are known to be attached, but we do know that Carter Swan and Asad Qizilbash are. Both are well-known names in the world of live-action adaptations of PlayStation games, having created Uncharted as well as the upcoming adaptations of The Last of Us, Ghost of Tsushima, and Twisted Metal.

PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures Television are the companies behind the Netflix series, which was first announced in May 2022.
Guerrilla Games, a Dutch video game developer best known for the Killzone series, also produces the Horizon series. What else do we know about Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Horizon?

What is the story of Horizon?

Horizon Zero Dawn’s story takes place in a post-apocalyptic United States in the 31st century.
Humans are dispersed in primitive tribes with varying levels of technological development. Their technologically advanced forefathers are known as the “Old Ones.” The Earth is dominated by large robotic creatures known as “machines.” They mostly coexist peacefully with humans, who occasionally hunt them for parts.
We follow Aloy in the main game, who grew up without parents and lived apart from the four tribes. As she grows older, she is forced to investigate a phenomenon known as the “Derangement,” which has caused machines to become more aggressive toward humans, and larger and deadlier machines to appear.

Who is in the cast of Horizon?

As of June 2022, no cast has been revealed for the Netflix Horizon series.
For those who don’t know, Ashly Burch provides Aloy’s voice in the game. Characters in the game were also voiced by notable actors Lance Reddick, John MacMillan, and John Hopkins.

As the Horizon announcement nearly coincided with the release of Stranger Things Season 4, which was further amplified by Sink’s Max having a particularly memorable and exciting scene that the internet also loved, Sadie Sink has recently become one of the most popular fan choices online for the role of Aloy. Additionally frequently mentioned for the part online is Lyndon Smith.
Hannah Hoekstra, a Dutch model, and Aloy’s face model have both been mentioned as potential candidates, but it’s highly doubtful that Netflix will choose to cast Aloy’s face model because it would be too similar to the game, and adaptations don’t typically do that.

When will Horizon be available on Netflix?

There are currently no scheduled filming dates. We’ve heard that the production might start in Toronto in the next month or two, but for the time being, it’s just rumour.
Netflix hasn’t announced a release date for its live-action Horizon adaptation, but given that production is scheduled to begin in 2022, we can presumably anticipate that the first season will be available on the streaming service sometime in early 2024.
