New gameplay trailer for titles like The Callisto Protocol and Capcom’s Street Fighter VI kicked off Summer Game Fest 2022 with a bang. However, things quickly accelerated when Call of Duty, the popular first-person shooter genre, announced its future entry in Modern Warfare 2. Activision offered fans the long-awaited gameplay video for the upcoming title in the Geoff Keighley-led event yesterday, following the release of the reveal trailer. A campaign mission set at Oil Rig, which was last seen in Modern Warfare 2, was included in the film.

The members of Task Force 141, who include well-known characters such as Captain Price, Ghost, Gaz, and Soap, were featured in a high-octane trailer. Along with the returning characters, the creators have also confirmed the addition of two new characters, Commander Philip Graves and Alejandro, to the game.

In terms of gameplay mechanics, the Dark Water mission seen in the teaser demonstrated the movement of containers caused by water entering the ship’s cargo bay. Players will be compelled to alter positions for cover as a result of the movie crates, which adds a thrilling new gameplay element. It’s uncertain whether this element will be fixed for campaign, as it will be difficult to recreate in multiplayer, and it could be a source of concern for players when dealing with issues such as server lag and others.

Finally, the makers validated fan suspicions about the unveiling trailer, which included indications about a new Warzone 2 map and the inclusion of Highrise in the Modern Warfare 2 playlist. While we have more details on the next multiplayer game, the creators have announced that fans will have to wait for further information about Warzone 2, which has been described as a “extension” of the future Call of Duty game.
