According to Deadline, Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) has been cast in a new film named The Sea Change. In 2017, Scott announced her plan to direct and star in The Sea Change. The film was never made, despite Mark Strong and Anya Taylor-Joy being in talks to co-star.

The plot will be based on Elizabeth Jane Howard’s 1959 novel of the same name, which will be adapted for the big screen. Scott Thomas, who has been nominated for an Academy Award, will be making her feature directing debut with the drama. Scott Thomas’ creative contribution from behind the camera will be an interesting departure for Kate, who is known for her roles in films such as Four Weddings and a Funeral and The English Patient. There have been no more casting announcements for The Sea Change, and no release date has been set.

The writer Emmanuel and his chronically ill wife, Lillian, will be the central characters of The Sea Change. The two have struggled to come to terms with the death of their beloved daughter, Sarah, and have never really recovered. While Emmanuel spends his time seducing the ladies around him with his charm and sensuality, Lillian grieves by engulfing herself in images of her deceased daughter. The two go on a vacation to a deserted Greek island, hoping to reignite the love they’ve lost in their relationship. Things take a bizarre turn for the couple as they try to come to grips with their shared loss and decide whether to grow together or apart.

In addition, Johansson has been cast in Wes Anderson’s next film Asteroid City. The picture, which is being marketed as a romantic comedy-drama, stars Tilda Swinton, Bill Murray, Adrien Brody, and Tom Hanks, and features a large quantity of A-list talent.

Details about Scarlett Johansson’s role are being kept under wraps. While it’s assumed she’ll play Lillian, there are a lot of strong female characters in the original plot, so Johansson could have played any of them. In addition to her role in The Sea Change, it was recently reported that Johansson would be reuniting with fellow MCU star and partner in crime Chris Evans in a film dubbed Project Artemis. The film’s production recently hit a hitch when its director, Jason Bateman, revealed that he would be stepping down owing to creative disputes with Johansson’s production company, These Pictures.
