Tokyo (The Call’s Jeon Jong-seo) is recruited by The Professor (When My Love Blooms’ Yoo Ji-tae) for a plan to steal $4 trillion from the Korea Unified Mint in the new teaser, which was released earlier today (June 3).

When a man named The Professor (Yoo Ji-tae) approaches Tokyo (Jun Jong-seo) with a plan to steal 4 trillion won from the Korea Unified Mint, she is confronted with the harsh realities of capitalism. The Professor prepares a scheme with a collected crew of crooks in the hopes of changing the unfair world where only the wealthy prosper.
To take control of the Korea Unified Mint, the group surges in, concealing their identity behind the Hahoe mask. Berlin (Park Hae-soo), the crew’s on-site leader, splits hostages into North and South groups, raising tensions inside the Korean Unified Mint.

Against this backdrop, the North and South organise a joint task team, led by South Korean negotiating specialist Seon Woojin (Kim Yunjin) and former North Korean special agent Cha Moohyuk (Kim Seung-o). Meanwhile, the Korea Unified Mint devolves into chaos, with terrified prisoners and surprising conflict among the robbers.

“I believed it would make a captivating story if an extra layer of North and South Korea may impact people’s trust and the urge to collaborate with each other,” writer Ryu Yong-jae said, underlining how Korean flavour was added to the original IP. “The notion of a Joint Economic Area itself is unique and exceptional, along with the players’ superb acting, which will truly win over the audience’s hearts,” actor Yoo Ji-tae said of the series.
Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area Part 1 will stream exclusively on Netflix on June 24.
