In Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s continuing defamation action, Kate Moss is set to testify.

Heard, 36, addressed Moss, Depp’s ex-girlfriend, on the stand earlier this month when discussing an alleged altercation between Depp and Heard’s sister, Whitney Henriquez. Henriquez was “in the line of fire… attempting to convince Johnny to stop,” according to the Aquaman 2 actress, which reminded her of a rumored altercation between Moss and Depp. According to PEOPLE, “[Whitney’s] back was to the stairs, and Johnny swings at her.” “I don’t hesitate, I don’t wait — I simply think about Kate Moss and stairs in my thoughts.”

Heard said, “And I swung at him,” referring to the alleged March 2015 confrontation involving herself, Henriquez, and Depp. Depp’s lawyers fist-pumped when Heard disclosed Moss’ name during her testimony, possibly because it gave them the option of calling the model as an impeachment witness to deny the alleged occurrence.

Heard first mentioned the Moss staircase claim during her testimony in Depp’s defamation trial in the United Kingdom in 2020, according to The New York Post. Moss and Depp broke up in 1997 after four years of dating and a rumored engagement, but reunited briefly during the Cannes Film Festival in May 1998. Depp is currently suing Heard for defamation, alleging that her 2018 op-ed in The Washington Post about surviving domestic abuse injured his reputation and ruined his professional chances, despite the fact that she did not name him in the piece. He said that Heard’s allegations against him cost him “nothing short of everything.”
