Since Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street launched her to international recognition, Margot Robbie has been a big Hollywood figure. The actress’ portfolio includes roles as Harley Quinn in the Suicide Squad films and Birds of Prey, as well as the titular protagonist in the next Barbie film. Well, rumor has it that Robbie has joined yet another major franchise: Ocean’s Eleven.

Margot Robbie is reuniting with Bombshell filmmaker Jay Roach for a new Ocean’s film, which she will star in and produce alongside Tom Ackerley under their LuckyChap production business, according to THR (Roach is also producing with Michelle Graham, his partner from Everyman Pictures). Carrie Solomon’s upcoming Ocean’s film will be set in Europe during the 1960s, but no additional story details have been provided. Although Warner Bros. Pictures hasn’t officially greenlit this Ocean’s prequel, it is in active development, with filming set to begin in spring 2023.

Ocean’s Eleven, a rough replica of 1960’s Ocean’s 11 starring five Rat Pack members, launched the Ocean’s franchise in 2001. The first modern Ocean’s film, which starred George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Julia Roberts, was a critical and economic success, setting the way for Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen in 2004 and 2007. 11 years after the original Ocean’s trilogy ended, Warner Bros. produced the spinoff Ocean’s 8, which starred Sandra Bullock as Debbie Ocean, Danny Ocean’s sister. Ocean’s 8 grossed over $298 million worldwide and received more good than negative reviews.

If this Ocean’s prequel goes through, it won’t be Margot Robbie’s only upcoming film alongside the aforementioned Barbie. She has roles in David O. Russell’s Amsterdam and Damian Chazelle’s Babylon this year, the latter of which stars Robbie as silent cinema actress Clara Bow. Robbie will also appear in Wes Anderson’s next film, Asteroid City, alongside Tilda Swinton and Bill Murray (among others).
