Amber Heard claims that her part as Mera in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom was cut by Warner Bros. Heard confirms that her involvement in Aquaman 2 was cut due to her current court battle with ex-husband Johnny Depp over allegations of mutual violence. The actress testified on Monday in her defamation lawsuit that she “fought really hard to stay in the movie,” but that “they didn’t want to include me in the film” and that she only shot a “very pared down version” of her role as Mera.

Heard first appeared as Mera in Zack Snyder’s Justice League before moving on to a greater role in James Wan’s Aquaman. “I was given a script, then given new versions of the script that had taken away scenes that had action in it, that depicted my character and another character without giving any spoilers away two characters fighting with one another,” Heard said. She added , “They basically took a bunch out of my role. They just removed a bunch.”

“I couldn’t renegotiate” the contract, the actress continued. Heard revealed that she was paid $2 million for the part, which was double her previous income for the first picture, and that it was the final Aquaman film under her contract. She also said, “I had to fight really hard to keep my career after I got my restraining order against Depp. I lost opportunities. I got dropped from jobs and campaigns. I fought to keep my job and the biggest movie opportunity I had to date [with] Justice League with the option to [star in] Aquaman. I had to fight really hard to stay in Justice League because that was the time of the divorce.”

Heard filed for divorce in 2016, alleging that Depp had physically mistreated her while under the influence of narcotics or alcohol during their marriage. Heard was “attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse,” Depp said, denying the allegations. In 2017, their divorce was finalised. Amber Heard is suing Johnny Depp for defamation over an op-ed she wrote in the Washington Post in 2018. “I spoke up against sexual violence and faced our culture’s wrath,” the op-ed began. That has to change,” Heard said, claiming to have been a victim of domestic violence. She did not, however, mention Depp.
