Netflix revealed late last year that it has picked up a new “innovative” heist series based on a true incident. The cast of the show includes Tati Gabrielle, Jai Courtney, Giancarlo Esposito, and Rufus Sewell. Here’s what we know thus far about Netflix’s Jigsaw series.
Who’s behind Netflix’s Jigsaw?
Eric Garcia (Matchstick Men, Repo Men, and Anonymous Rex) is the project’s creator, showrunner, and executive producer.
Automatik Entertainment (Fred Berger, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and Justin Levy) and Scott Free Productions are producing the series (Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker and Jordan Sheehan).
José Padilha, who will direct the pilot episode and the second episode, is one of the show’s directors. He is most recognised for his work on Netflix’s The Mechanism as a creator, director, and executive producer.
Two episodes will be directed by Everardo Gout (unconfirmed). Following Jigsaw, Gout will direct Netflix’s adaptation of American Jesus Millarworld.
Mairzee Almas will also direct two episodes of the show (unconfirmed). She worked on Netflix’s Shadow and Bone and Locke & Key, as well as The Sandman (which she’ll direct episode 6).
Who will star in Netflix’s Jigsaw series?
Leo Pap, who is characterised as “whip-smart, focused, and driven, with an engineer’s intellect and a rigorous eye for detail,” will be played by Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad and The Boys). He’ll play a thief who has been in the game for a long time and, despite the fact that he had the chance to leave, he chose not to.
Paz Vega (Sex and Luca, Spanglish) will play Ava Mercer, a well-known Spanish actress. She portrays a lawyer who is a killer in the courtroom but also knows how to manage herself in the real world.
Roger Salas, a former robber who has remade himself as a top-tier security expert, is played by Rufus Sewell (Dark City, The Diplomat on Netflix). Also referred to as a salesman with an incredible capacity to influence people to achieve his objectives.
Hannah Kim is a chameleon who moves between the worlds of high-stakes finance and low-lying crime, played by Tati Gabrielle (The 100).
Stan Loomis, a small-time smuggler with a big-time appreciation for life’s epicurean delights, is played by Peter Mark Kendall (The Americans, Chicago Med).
Jai Courtney (Terminator Genisys, Divergent) as Bob Goodwin, a chest-puffing alpha guy with a penchant for safecracking and pushing people’s buttons. Rosaline Elbay (Ramy) as Judy Goodwin, the crew’s demolitions specialist.
Nazan Abassi, played by Niousha Noor (#Persianize), is an FBI agent “who is the blazing fire that threatens to burn our team of thieves down.”
Aside from the initial cast list, we now know that the following people have joined the cast:
Carlos is played by Hemky Madera (Spider-Man: Homecoming), and Barbara Loomis is played by Stacey Oristano (Bunheads).

Jigsaw is primarily being shot in Brooklyn in Netflix’s new Bushwick Studio, which is a state-of-the-art New York studio. Jigsaw is one of the first major programmes to be filmed there because it’s a fresh new Netflix facility that opens in the summer of 2021. Netflix’s $100 million commitment to the city includes the studio.
The show began filming on September 1st, 2022, and ended on March 16th, 2022, according to production listings seen by What’s on Netflix.
We learned that the show was filming in and around Brooklyn through eyewitnesses and local news reports during early 2022.
In January 2022, Huntington Now claimed that the series has taken over The Dix Hills Diner and the nearby Gold Coast Jewelry & Pawn on East Jericho Turnpike.
As previously stated, several eyewitnesses witnessed the performance being filmed and shared the news on social media. They saw the series being filmed at 28 Liberty Street (near One Chase Manhattan Plaza), Fulton and Nostrand in Brooklyn, and Midtown East New York.
