Joseph Kosinski’s Top Gun: Maverick is a 2022 American action drama film scheduled to release on May 27, 2022. Ehren Kruger, Eric Warren Singer, and Christopher McQuarrie wrote the screenplay based on a story by Peter Craig and Justin Marks. Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Ed Harris, and Val Kilmer star alongside Tom Cruise as test pilot Maverick in the sequel to Top Gun. The characters of Cruise and Kilmer are reprised from the first film. Top Gun: Maverick is a film devoted to Tony Scott, the filmmaker of Top Gun, who died in 2012.

Many of them turned to social media after the premiere to share their first views of the film and lavish praise on it. Val Kilmer, Jennifer Connelly, Miles Teller, John Hamm, Glen Powell, and others star alongside Cruise in the picture.
The official synopsis of the film reads, “After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw, the son of Maverick’s late friend. Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it.”
