Netflix releases first trailer of live-action series Resident Evil

Netflix has unveiled a comprehensive trailer for their upcoming live-action Resident Evil series, which is based on the legendary survival horror video game franchise, offering fans their first look at the latest adaption of the staple video game property. The Resident Evil series follows Jade Wesker, the daughter of longtime adversary Albert Wesker, from 2022 to 2036. The modern chapters follow Jade and her sister Billie as they move to New Raccoon City with their family and gradually discover of their father’s horrible secret. Resident Evil season 1 will consist of eight one-hour episodes and will premiere on July 14th, 2022.

The first Resident Evil series teaser has been released, giving viewers a sneak peak at how Netflix will adapt the popular video game series. The trailer shows New Raccoon City for the first time, as well as many animals, zombies, and characters from both realities. The Umbrella Corporation emblem appears frequently, and dedicated fans will undoubtedly notice numerous Resident Evil Easter eggs relating to the video games dispersed throughout.

The adaption is the latest in a long line of Capcom survival horror franchise adaptations. Previously, Paul W. S. Anderson created and directed six feature films based on the series, which aired from 2002 to 2016. The series, starring Milla Jovovich as Alice, had various characters from the original games but did not follow the plots. Andrew Dabb, who is most known for his work on the famous CW series Supernatural, is in charge of the Netflix project.

Along with Mary Leah Sutton, he writes and executive produces. Constantin Film is producing the series, with Robert Kulzer and Oliver Berben serving as executive producers.The original Playstation video game by director Shinji Mikami and producer Tokuro Fujiwara, Resident Evil, debuted in 1996 and follows a rotating band of heroes as they probe the atrocities of the Umbrella Corporation. Since then, the series has spawned 13 mainline games and various spinoffs, becoming one of the most successful video game franchises in history, with over 120 million units sold worldwide. Resident Evil Village, the most recent game was critically acclaimed when it was released last year.
