Although Spring has only recently arrived, we can already anticipate some of the upcoming Summer K-dramas. The period drama Alchemy of Souls (also titled) is one such drama that we’re looking forward to seeing on Netflix in June 2022 on a weekly basis.
Alchemy of Souls (previously titled Return) is a South Korean period drama series produced by tvN and written by Hong Mi Ran and Hong Jung Eun that will be broadcast internationally. Park Joon Hwxa is the director of the series.
What is the story of Alchemy of Souls about?
Jang Wook of the noble Jang family in Daeho has an unpleasant secret about his birth that everyone in the country discusses. Jang Wook, a well-known troublemaker, meets Mu Deok, an elite warrior trapped within a physically weak body who becomes his servant and secretly begins teaching Jang Wook how to fight.
‘Alchemy of Souls,’ directed by Park Joon Hwa of ‘What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim,’ is a fantasy romance drama set in the fictional country Daeho, which does not exist in history or on maps.
This drama will tell the story of a character whose fate has been twisted by a spell that swaps people’s souls.
The Hong Sisters, a well-known screenwriting duo, will pen the upcoming drama (Hong Jung Eun and Hong Mi Ran). The star-studded drama cast will also include NU’EST’s Minhyun, Oh My Girl’s Arin, and ‘All of Us Are Dead’ stars Yoo In Soo, Shin Seung Ho, Yoo Joon Sang, Oh Na Ra, and Jo Jae Yoon, in addition to Jung So Min and Lee Jae Wook.
Lee Jae Wook will play Jang Wook of the Jang family, a sophisticated but troubled young master. Jang Wook comes from a tragic family, with the entire Daeho nation whispering about the shocking secret behind his humiliating birth. On the outside, he appears cold and indifferent, but on the inside, he burns with fiery mischief.
Meanwhile, Jung So Min will play Mu Deok Yi, a powerful assassin trapped in a frail body. His body could not keep up with his spirit, which was fierce and full of strength.
Alchemy of Souls cast members?
Many Netflix subscribers will recognize Lee Jae Wook from films such as Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol and Extraordinary You. Jang Wook, a nobleman, will be played by Jae Wook. Mu Deok, Seo Yul, and Go Won will be played by Jung So Min, Hwang Min Hyun, and Shin Seung Ho, respectively. Park Jin is played by Yoo Joon Sang, who previously appeared in The Uncanny Counter. Oh Na Ra starred in the critically acclaimed Sky Castle and was most recently seen in the Netflix Original Series Racket Boys.
When will Alchemy of Souls season 1 be available on Netflix?
The first episode of Alchemy of Souls is set to premiere on Netflix on Saturday, June 18th, 2022, at the time of writing.
It should be noted that episode release dates are subject to change, and the first episode of Alchemy of Souls could be pushed back or moved forward.
Alchemy of Souls will consist of 20 episodes released over the course of ten weeks. Each episode is expected to last 80 minutes.
Saturdays and Sundays will see the release of new episodes.
