Actor Mike Hagerty, well remembered for his role as Mr. Treeger on FRIENDS, died at the age of 67. His death is still under investigation. Bridget Everett, Hagerty’s co-star in the sitcom Somebody Somewhere, was the one who broke the sad news. The shocking news of Mike Hagerty’s death at the age of 67 has startled everyone. The industry, as well as fans, have been shaken by the abrupt death of the Friends’ star, and have resorted to social media to express their grief.

Bridget Everett, his co-star in the film Somebody Somewhere, broke the news of his death. Bridget shared photos of Mike on Instagram, along with a devastating letter about his death. She wrote, “With great sadness, the family of Michael G. Hagerty announced his death yesterday in Los Angeles. A beloved character actor, his love of his hometown of Chicago and his family were the cornerstones of his life. Mike, a devoted husband, is survived by his wife Mary Kathryn, his sister Mary Ann Hagerty, her wife Kathleen O’Rourke, and their daughter Meg. He will be sorely missed.”

Sara Jessica Parker commented, “No. No. No. no. Oh terrible loss and k will miss him on your show. Heartbreaking. Admired him for years.” Comedian Murray Hill said, “A tragic loss. The best dad”. The Hollywood Reporter received a comment from the channel behind Somebody Somewhere. It reads, “We are very saddened to hear about the sudden passing of Mike Hagerty. A member of the HBO family for many years, his most recent role as Bridget Everett’s father in Somebody Somewhere showed his special talent for bringing heart to a performance. Mike was a joy to work with and brought warmth and kindness to all who knew him. We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends.”  

Mike Hagerty’s modest character performances in iconic sitcoms such as Martin, Cheers, The Wayans Brothers, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Friends, Seinfeld, and The Wonder Years garnered him fans. Mr. Treeger, the superintendent of the apartment complex where the majority of the main cast resided, was played by Mike. He was also a regular on ‘The George Carlin Show’ on Fox and ‘Lucky Louie’ on HBO. Mike Hagerty, known for his moustache and heavy Chicago accent, was largely seen on television. He has appeared in films such as An Old Man’s Gold, Back In the Day, Helicopter Mom, All Stars, Urban Myth: Nest, N’Everest, and Apache Junction in minor roles.
