Martin Freeman, who plays Everett Ross in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Black Panther franchise, has revealed that filming the upcoming sequel without Chadwick Boseman was a “odd” experience. Despite the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman in 2020, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was released. Despite praising director Ryan Coogler’s work, Freeman spoke about the void left by his late co-star.

When asked how it felt to film the sequel to the hit Marvel film Black Panther without the King of Wakanda, Freeman told Collider, “It was strange.” “On the one hand, you’re making the film that you’ve come to make, and there are dozens and dozens of other people on set who are also working to make the film. But there’s no denying that, at the heart of it, there’s a significant gap now, which you sensed.”

“I enjoy portraying Everett Ross.” He’s a very fun character to play. He’s nicely simpatico for the story. He’s a good guy,” the actor continued. “But it was strange. Of course, the absence of Chadwick [Boseman] was unusual.”
“There’s no getting around it. I think everyone would find it pretty strange and sad, but at the same time, things don’t just end. It’s not as if, ‘Well, that happened, so we’ll all go off and never do it again.’ But it was strange.”

Despite the actor’s statement that shooting Black Panther without the late Chadwick Boseman was “odd,” Freeman clarified that there are still plenty of stories to be told in this franchise. “When he [Boseman] passed, I thought, ‘Okay, well, maybe there just won’t be another one.’ “ said Freeman. “However, there are still other stories to be told within that world, as well as other great characters.” I believe, and hope, that we produced a good film. “I have a lot of faith in Ryan Despite the actor’s statement that shooting Black Panther without the late Chadwick Boseman was “odd,” Freeman clarified that there are still plenty of stories to be told in this franchise. “When he [Boseman] passed, I thought, ‘Okay, well, maybe there just won’t be another one.’ “ said Freeman. “However, there are still other stories to be told within that world, as well as other great characters.” I believe, and hope, that we produced a good film. “I have a lot of faith in Ryan Cooler.

Because Marvel has vowed not to recast Boseman or use his likeness in CGI, there was a noticeable void on the set of Black Panther Wakanda Forever. The upcoming action film is said to focus on the Kingdom’s relationship with the underwater city of Atlantis rather than the king of the fictional African country.
Freeman will return to the big screen later this year in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which is set to hit theatres on November 11.
