The three main characters in the upcoming Disney+ series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” have been cast. The series comprises of five major books, as well as additional novellas and graphic novels, and follows a modern-day group of kids who are descended from Greek mythology figures. It was turned into a film franchise in 2012 by Chris Columbus, the director of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, who also directed Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief in 2010. It is now adapted as a Disney+ live-action television series, which will begin production in June. Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz will oversee the series, with Rick Riordan contributing, while James Bobin will direct the premiere episode.

Writer Riordan posted a photo of himself with the three actors who would represent the main characters in the Percy Jackson trilogy on his official website and later on Instagram. Walker Scobell was originally reported to play the title character, but today the rest of the cast of the series has been revealed. Aryan Simhadri, an Indian-American actor, will play Grover, a half-boy, half-goat, while Leah Sava Jeffries will play Annabeth, the daughter of the Greek goddess Athena. Rick Riordan talked about the casting and said, “This week, our three brave heroes assembled for the first time at the studios in Vancouver, and I got to welcome them to the set. We have a lot of hard work ahead of us, but also a lot of fun. I cannot wait to get started!”

Grover is a rake disguised as a 12-year-old boy, who is half boy and half goat. He is deeply concerned about others and will always do what is best for them, even if it means sacrificing himself. Despite his cautious disposition, he will always battle to protect his buddies, particularly his best friend Percy. Annabeth is the actual daughter of Athena, the Greek goddess. She’s a smart strategist with a lively, inquisitive mind. She longs to put her skills to the test in the human world, which she hardly recalls after five years at Camp Half-Blood.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians was first announced in January and follows the main character Percy (Scobell), a 12-year-old demigod who is just coming to grips with his unexpected powers when Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. Percy sets out on a once-in-a-lifetime quest to locate the lightning bolt and return it to Olympus. Riordan announced on his website in April that filming would commence in the summer.
