The latest trailer for Netflix’s upcoming action film Interceptor, starring Elsa Pataky, has been released, and it depicts Pataky defending a remote missile interceptor station from a threat.
The action thriller, starring Elsa Pataky, Luke Bracey, Aaron Glenane, and Mayen Mehta, tells the story of an Army captain who must use her decades of training and expertise to defend against coordinated attacks on the missile interceptor station she commands.
With a script co-written by Stuart Beattie, the same mind behind Collateral, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, and 30 Days of Night, it’s difficult to predict how exactly this brand new film will go down.
With echoes of both the Bruce Willis classic Die Hard and the Sean Connery and Nicolas Cage film The Rock, we hope that this brand new film can live up to the greatness of these genre icons.
“As those who have read my novels know, I love telling big action stories at a frenetic pace,” said debut director Matthew Reilly in a statement. “I wanted to bring that kind of lightning-quick, relentless, high-stakes storytelling to film, and thus Interceptor was born.” “Elsa is ideal as our protagonist: a strong, independent, and determined woman who, in the face of overwhelming odds, simply refuses to give up,” he continued.
“After being wrongfully fired from her dream job at the Pentagon, the tough and reality-bruised Captain JJ Collins (Elsa Pataky) finds herself in charge of a lone nuclear missile interceptor base in the middle of the Pacific Ocean,” reads the official synopsis of the film. “When a simultaneous coordinated attack threatens the base itself, Collins meets the charismatic yet shady Alexander Kessel (Luke Bracey), a former US military intelligence officer intent on carrying out an unthinkable plan.” Collins must use her years of tactical training and military expertise to determine who she can trust and stop Kessel and his covert mercenaries from completing their twisted and terrible mission with only minutes on the clock.”
Interceptor will be released on Netflix on June 3rd, competing in the UK release schedule with only Bergman Island and Dashcam.
