Kylie Jenner’s Met Gala 2022 look grabs attention on social media with an Off-White bridal gown and backwards baseball cap viel. Kylie’s look garnered some backlash on social media due to how much it deviated from the 1800s-inspired dress code. Kylie was not a first-time attendee of the fashion show. Kylie has previously worn an all-purple suit alongside her sisters Kendall and Kim, despite her absence last year.

On Monday night, Kylie revealed the backstory behind her 2022 Met Gala look on Instagram and told that by her look she is paying tribute to the late fashion designer, Virgil Abloh in the caption of a dump of photos of herself getting ready. She wrote, “Virgil and I were supposed to go to the Met together before it got postponed in 2020. to celebrate V tonight and his incredible legacy truly means the world to me.” She added, “I’m humbled to wear this dress and honour my talented beautiful friend. we felt you tonight Virgil and love you forever & thank u to the entire @off____white team !!” The outfit is based on the late Virgil Abloh’s final couture garment from the Off-White Fall Winter 2022 & High Fashion collection runway show. To honour her buddy and celebrate Virgil’s legacy, Kylie Jenner worked closely with the Off-White Atelier on the creation of her gown for the 2022 MET Gala. This is definitely Kylie’s most unusual choice for the event as compared to her past dramatic and colourful looks.

The second section of the Costume Institution’s two-part show in America: An Anthology of Fashion was celebrated with the custom high fashion ensemble. Her dreamy dress had a ruffled organza skirt and a handcrafted bustier with the word OFF emblazoned on it. A veil and the Thinking Cap were added to the appearance to make it more fascinating.

The Kardashian-Jenner family was close to Virgil Abloh and was devastated when he died last year. Kendall Jenner paid a long homage to the fashion icon, which Kylie Jenner also shared on her Instagram Stories. Virgil, the former artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear collection, died on November 28, 2021, at the age of 41, following a private battle with cancer. Following the announcement of Abloh’s passing, tributes from fans and celebrities alike poured in.
