Marvel’s new superhero Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is based on the same-named Marvel Comics character. It is the twenty-eighth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the eleventh in Phase Four. The film is all set to release on May 6, 2022. The movie is directed by Sam Raim and written by Michael Waldron.

The film has been in the news due to its refusal to be released in Saudi Arabia because it contains an LGBTQ reference. The Doctor Strange sequel is apparently facing a ban due to a 12-second scene in which Xochitl Gomez’s character, America Chavez, refers to her “two mums.” “It will never be banned. There’s no reason to ban the film. It’s a simple edit…so far they have refused. But we haven’t closed the door. We’re still trying, ” Nawaf Alsabhan, Saudi Arabia’s general supervisor of movie classification, told the news agency AFP a few days ago.

Benedict Cumberbatch, the film’s lead actor, recently expressed his reaction on the same in an interview with PA News Agency. He said, “It’s difficult not to become emotional about it, to be honest. But it is, I’m afraid, an expected disappointment. We’ve come to know from those repressive regimes that their lack of tolerance is exclusionary to people who deserve to be not only included but celebrated for who they are, and made to feel a part of a society and a culture and not punished for their sexuality.”

We shouldn’t be surprised that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ final edit is nearing completion. This film appears to have a significant impact on how the MCU develops in the future. The movie will also star Benedict Wong as Wong, Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff as Scarlet Witch, Patrick Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier, Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo.
