DC’s Legends of Tomorrow has been cancelled after seven successful seasons. After seven seasons, it has been cancelled by the CW network. Following ‘Batwoman,’ this is the second DC Comics-based sitcom to be cancelled on Friday. The series Legends of Tomorrow was created by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg, and Phil Klemmer, as well as Sarah Schechter and Chris Fedak, who also serve as executive producers.

Legends of Tomorrow started in January 2016 and ran for seven seasons and 110 episodes, with a lighter tone than some of its Arrowverse contemporaries. The series, based on DC Comics characters, airs on The CW and is a spin-off incorporating characters from Arrow and The Flash, as well as new characters, set in the same fictitious universe as Arrow and The Flash. After Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl, it is the fourth series in the Arrowverse.

Co-showrunner Keto Shimizu informed via Twitter on Friday, “Well, folks. It’s been an incredible run. However, the CW has let us know that there will be no Season 8 of #LegendsOfTomorrow. We are heartbroken, but also immensely grateful for the amazing work our cast, crew, and writers have contributed to the little show that could.”

The CW’s DC pocket for 2022-23 is thinner than it’s been in years, thanks to the cancellation of Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman. The Flash (which is scheduled to end with its previously stated ninth season) and Superman & Lois, which are presently the only two DC shows set for next season, have both been renewed by the network. Producer Greg Berlanti is hosting another DC programme with a pilot, ‘Gotham Knights,‘ which is not a spin-off of ‘Batwoman.’

However, the network is undergoing significant changes as parent companies Warner Bros., Discovery, and Paramount Global consider selling stations. ‘Local TV Giant Nexstar’ is hailed as a promising contender.
