The international success of Lee Min-drama ho’s ‘Pachinko’ appears to have helped the series land a new season. The announcement comes just a few days after Season 1 concluded on April 29. Lee Min-ho portrayed a morally ambiguous character who otherwise fit the South Korean ‘ideal rich guy’ character trope. The critically acclaimed series quickly gained popularity following its initial worldwide release on March 25. The eight-part drama aired episodes one by one until April 2022, leaving fans disappointed after the final episode aired on April 29.

However, a day after the final broadcast, the creators of ‘Pachinko’ informed fans that a second season was in the works and would be available soon. The K-drama ‘Pachinko,’ based on a 2015 American novel of the same name, warmly captures the novel’s action on a global scale. The show’s plot begins with a story of forbidden love between two ill-fated lovers, drawing on the unforgettable chronicles of the characters as they experience war, peace, love, parting, victory, and judgment.

The story caters to a wide range of audiences as the characters travel between countries such as South Korea, Japan, and the United States, cementing its global appeal and subsequent success in both America and Asian countries.

As Hansu, the character we all loved to hate, Lee Min-ho, who is known for playing rich characters, tapped into fans’ nostalgia for his previous characters. The show is well-known for its colorful cast of characters. The show’s cast, which included Youn Yuh-jung and Kim Min-ha as old and young Sunja, Jin-ha as Solomon, and Han Jun-woo as Joseph, among others, helped ‘Pachinko’ achieve drama excellence with their acting skills.

The series was produced by American television writer Soo Hugh, who announced the show’s renewal for a second season after its brief but memorable run. “I am indescribably happy to be able to continue this special story of a vibrant family with Apple, Media Reds, and the cast and crew of ‘Pachinko,’ who trusted and supported the project,” she said.
