Goalkeeper Hope Solo is Going To Rehab After Arrest

Hope Solo announced that she is taking a break to resolve her alcohol issues, she issued a statement on social media oon 29th April sharing that she is going into an alcohol treatment program. Hope Solo also said her induction in the National Soccer Hall of Fame, scheduled this year, will be postponed. Hope Solo worte on her Instagram and Twitter accounts, “I have contacted the Hall of Fame and respectfully requested a postponement of my Hall of Fame induction ceremony to 2023. I will be voluntarily entering an in-patient alcohol treatment program to address my challegnes with alcohol. At this time, my energies and focus are totally directed to my health, healing and taking care of my family.”

Solo’s decision to go to rehab follows her arrest on 31st March this year in North Carolina as she was driving under the influence of alcohol with her two kids, twins which include a boy, Vittorio and girl, Lozen. She was arrested near a Walmart in Winston-Salem, a city of North Carolina. The former goalkeeper in the US women’s national soccer team was charged with DUI, child absue and resisting arrest and later booked into the Forsyth County Detention Center. but released after a point.

The next day, Hope Solo’s attorney talked about her charges via her social media accounts, writing “her kids are safe” and noting that the story “is more sympathetic than the initial charges suggest”. From 2000-2016, Hope Solo was a popular figure in US women’s soccer team as she was named “US Female Soccer Player of the Year” in 2009. Hope is also a two-time Olympic gold medalist and a World Cup champion.

This is not the first time she has been arrested as in 2014 she was arrested in the wake of a domestic violence incident during which she assaulted her sister and nephew. Later, she pled not guilty to the charges and as her punishment had to sit out during a football match following being released on bail. The prosecutors withdraw charges against Solo in 2018.
