Laine Hardy, the winner of “American Idol” season 17 in 2019 revealed on Thursday that the Louisiana State University Police Department is investigating him. The LSU Police Department issued a warrant for Hardy, 21, on April 28. Hardy used his social media accounts to update his supporters about the investigation. He revealed in his statement that he was served with a warrant after being suspected of a sensitive matter. The musician did not elaborate on the claims levelled against him.
As per the reports given to the Advocate by a source, Hardy is suspected of secretly filming a student by leaving a gadget in their room, according to reports. According to university records, a complaint was filed lately alleging improper wire, electronic, and oral communications interception and dissemination. It was unclear whether Hardy’s detention was related to that specific complaint, which was filed on April 7. Because they were not allowed to discuss the matter until Hardy’s formal processing, which was scheduled for Friday morning, the source requested anonymity. Hardy in a Twitter post wrote, “Earlier today, I received a warrant due to allegations made against me and have been fully cooperative with the Louisiana State University Police Department. I understand that my career has thrust me into the public spotlight, and I embrace that wholeheartedly as my entire world belongs to my music and my fans. However, due to the sensitive nature of this allegation, I humbly ask for privacy at this time. I have the utmost respect for the law and will assist in their investigation as needed moving forward.”
Since winning American Idol, Hardy has released several singles and albums. Blue Christmas, Flame, Ground I Grew Up On, Tiny Town, Other LA, and Let There Be Country are just a few of his songs. He drew notoriety last year when he sang his song Memorize You on ABC’s The Bachelor. Hardy grew up in Livingston, Texas, with his brother Kyle and sister Brittany. His mother Cindy Lou is a realtor, and his father Barry is a general contractor for a building company.
