On 28th April, SNL actor Pete Davidson was present at the courtroom where trial of Blac Chyna’s lawsuit against the Kardashians is proceeding, sitting with his girlfriend Kim Kardashian. Kim Kardashian attended the trial which saw lawyers of both sides giving their closing arguments in the case, her boyfriend Pete Davidson was there to express his support to the family. Kim’s mother and sisters, Kris Jenner, Khloe Kardashian and Kylie Jenner were present as well.
Blac Chyna filed a lawsuit against Kim, Kris, Kylie and Khloe alleging defamation and interfering with her contract with E!. Earlier, the model whose real name is Angela White, was in a relationship with Kris Jenner’s son Rob Kardashian and got engaged to him. Blac Chyna, who has a daughter with Rob Kardashian named Dream, 5, starred with him in a reality TV show called “Rob & Chyna” on E!. The lawyer of the Kardashians, Michael Rhodes, argued that Chyna and Rob were happy for some time in their relationship but after a point it didn’t work out.
Rhodes told that the central contention of this case is Blac Chyna’s belief that Rob & Chyna was based on her, she accused the Kardashians of deliberately cancelling the show after just one season. Rhodes told the court, “It was never her show. This is the central problem in this case. She thinks this show was about her. It wasn’t her show. It was a show about a relationship. It was about both of them. It’s just one of those relationships that didn’t work. This was supposed to be a lighthearted romantic comedy. Rob & Chyna in Love was the working title. It’s what the network was trying to produce. The show’s premise was to be lighthearted, a romantic family comedy.”
Rhodes cited the negative media reports regarding Blac Chyna, noting, “This wasn’t the kind of content the network wanted to put out. The network wanted the same kind of tone as Keeping Up with the Kardashians. And, yeah, the Kardashians have problems. They’re real people too but there’s a point it becomes too much. It became dark and heavy. This is a real family. Yeah, they’re famous but they are real people. The relationship at the heart of Rob & Chyna was unraveling. They were on/off, on/off but by February it’s gone off the cliffs. This doesn’t have a happy ending. It’s kind of sad. This is a very sad story. It’s grim.” Rhodes added that though season 2 of Rob & Chyna was an option there was no requirement or responsibility to renew the reality series.
Chyna’s lawyer, however, questioned the claims of deadly attack on Rob Kardashian by her client. She highlighted that he didn’t have any bruises or injury marks on his body and didn’t go to the police or got medical treatment. She also said if Rob was really scared for his life and Chyna wanted to kill him, he would have taken Dream with him rather than leaving her at home.
