Disney’s upcoming movie Haunted Mansion is a supernatural horror comedy film directed by Justin Simien and based on a script by Katie Dippold. The movie is scheduled to be released on March 10,2023. The Haunted Mansion was originally turned into a feature picture by Disney in 2003, starring Eddie Murphy. Following the 2003 film, this is the second theatrical film adaptation of Walt Disney’s theme park attraction of the same name, produced by Walt Disney Pictures. The Haunted Mansion, directed by Rob Minkoff (The Lion King), garnered mixed reviews and has been mostly neglected by The Walt Disney Company.
A Haunted Mansion revival was first reported in 2010, with Guillermo del Toro set to write, produce, and direct the picture. His version would have featured the Hatbox Ghost in a key role and would have been both horrifying and hilarious. Both Atlanta and New Orleans have been used for filming, with the latter likely serving as a hint given that the Disney Parks ride is based in New Orleans Square.
About the Plot
The storyline of the movie narrates the story of Gabbie, a single mother with a 9-year-old boy, moves into a surprisingly priced home in New Orleans, hoping to start a new life, only to learn that the place is much more than they bargained for. They resort to a priest for help, who enlists the help of a widower scientist-turned-failed-paramormal expert, a French Quarter clairvoyant, and a crotchety historian to exorcise the home.
About the Cast
Rosario Dawson will play the doctor who moves into the mansion, while Chase Dillon will play her little son. LaKeith Stanfield as the paranormal specialist, Owen Wilson as the priest, Tiffany Haddish as the psychic, and Danny DeVito as the historian round out the cast.
