Travis Scott announces his first public performance since the Astroworld Tragedy. Travis Scott is set to perform publicly for the first time since the catastrophic Astroworld 2021 music festival, which claimed the lives of ten people and injured numerous others earlier this year. Scott will perform at three Primavera Sound events in South America: on November 6, in So Paulo, Brazil; on November 12, in Buenos Aires, Argentina; and on November 13, in Santiago, Chile.
Following the Astroworld concert disaster in November, which resulted in deaths and injuries due to the concert grounds’ inadequate conduction, the rapper took a break from public appearances and only performed in a few private VIP sets. For years to come, the fatalities will almost definitely throw a cloud over the live music industry in general, and Scott’s career in particular. Scott was publicly humiliated and ostracised by the internet community.
Scott is also due to host, but not perform at, a nightclub gig in Miami next month, according to many sources. Last week, he also dropped a new song (his first significant public release since Astroworld), a collaboration with Future and Southside. He also performed a private set in front of guests including Leonardo DiCaprio, Venus and Serena Williams at a home party in Bel Air in March, just before the Oscars. Scott was scheduled to perform alongside Kanye West and Billie Eilish at the Coachella event in 2022. Following being dropped from the cast after Astroworld, Scott took a break from the spotlight for a spell. Scott has promised to cover the victims’ funeral costs and has spoken out emotionally about the tragedy, which has forced the cancellation of a number of high-profile musical engagements as well as a partnership with the fashion brand Dior.
However, Travis Scott was not the only one who withdrew themselves from the limelight. His girlfriend and baby mama Kylie Jenner too remained silent at the time, taking a step backward from her social media accounts as she extended her remorse for the situation in a post before her absence.
