Doctor Strange, the upcoming superhero film from Marvel Studios, will be released in India on May 6. The advance booking of tickets has begun, and the response has been overwhelming. The Benedict Cumberbatch-starrer has already made Rs 10 crore in the ten days since its release. For the first time in India, advance booking for a film began a month before the film’s release date.

On February 14, the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer was released, and it received a fantastic response. The film’s advance booking, which began in the first week of April, has seen interested fans book tickets for the film in advance. The sequel to Doctor Strange is off to a great start, with over Rs 10 crore collected since advance booking began in India.

The film, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen, will be released in English theatres on May 6, with dubbed versions in major Indian languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. According to trade analysts, the film is a big hit, especially since many people see it as a sort of sequel to Spider-Man: No Way Home. Many industry insiders predict that it will have a lifetime earning of more than 100 crore in India.

Given the hype surrounding the title, advance booking for the film began 30 days before its release, making it the first-ever advance booking for a Hollywood release.
While Marvel films have always done well in the metros, exhibitors and distributors say Doctor Strange 2 has shown promise early on by doing well in tier 2 cities as well. “Metro cities have always been Marvel fanatics, but what surprises us this time with Doctor Strange is that we have gotten a phenomenal response from tier 2 markets as well,” Rajender Singh Jyala, Chief Programming Officer at INOX Leisure, said in a statement.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, from Marvel Studios, is one of the most anticipated films of 2022. The big-ticket entertainer has already captivated audiences with record-breaking advance bookings 30 days before its release, making it the first time any Hollywood film has ever received such a head start!
The early trend in the numbers shows an encouraging sign for a big blockbuster start as the film prepares for its massive release next week.
