MCU’s next big project Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness is set to release on 6 May 2022. Meanwhile the latest Marvel Teaser welcomes Baron Mordo’s (Chiwetel Ejiofor) Illuminati by mentioning the Secret Society.

It shows the many psychedelic locations Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) will see while traveling through the multiverse of madness. The MCU’s space-time will be threatened by Strange’s constant meddling with the multiverse in the upcoming sequel. Mordo announces that, due to his crimes against existence, the wizard will face a secret alliance of the most powerful heroes of the universe, the Illuminati. This is the first time any marketing material mentions the Illuminati by name, although the presence of the supergroup had been previously confirmed by some official images.

During the Marvel Comics era, the Illuminati was an elite team of powerful heroes who made key decisions that would influence humanity’s fate behind the backs of their teammates. In a previous trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Patrick Stewart appeared in the role of Professor X, a role he played in the Fox-era X-Men movies. Considering that, it is easy to understand why fans are excited to see how the MCU touches up the fan-favorite franchise. Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will have to deliver some powerful reinforcements to Stephen to stop reality from collapsing. Additionally, Wanda, his brother-in-arms Wong (Benedict Wong) and America Chavez, a woman capable of hopping across dimensions, will prove valuable allies. In addition to Mordo and the Illuminati, Stephen will have to battle extradimensional squid monsters, zombies, and a bad version of himself, among many others.
