Shazam! Details about the Fury of the Gods reshoot have leaked

According to Big Screen Leaks, additional filming on the upcoming DC Extended Universe sequel will begin “in a week or two” and will not last long. It’s also been reported that the reshoots will be minor, with the goal of allowing director David F. Sandberg to “touch up some stuff” before the film’s December release.
This is consistent with Sandberg’s perfectionist tendencies, as the director previously stated that he is still bothered by an easily overlooked visual effects gaffe in the first Shazam! film. Sandberg attributed the error to the film’s hectic production schedule and stated his intention to avoid similar VFX errors on Fury of the Gods, despite the fact that its release date has been pushed back from June 2023.

Sandberg insisted that Shazam! didn’t bother him. Fury of the Gods’ earlier release date put it in direct competition with James Cameron’s Avatar 2, which was fine as long as it gave him more time to perfect the effects. Despite the fact that Avatar 2 is the sequel to one of the highest-grossing films of all time, the director has made light of the situation. After the news that Fury of the Gods and Avatar 2 would be released on the same day, Sandberg joked, “Poor James Cameron must be shaking in his boots right now,”

Sandberg, on the other hand, is less at ease when it comes to the possibility of hardcore fans reacting negatively to his films. After seeing the online backlash to Star Wars: The Last Jedi, he admitted he gave up on the idea of directing a Superman film. “I would have said [I want to make a] Superman [movie] at one point,” Sandberg explained, “but when there are so many different expectations and hardcore fans, you’re going to piss off so many people no matter what you do.” “Seeing how people react to films like The Last Jedi makes me want to avoid them in the future. Shazam! was ideal because there hadn’t been many previous adaptations.”

Shazam! Fury of the Gods arrives in theatres on Dec. 16.
