The first Shazam film, directed by David F. Sandberg, was released in the DC universe in 2019. The plot centred on the lives of a struggling foster youngster named Billy Batson, who is given with superhuman skills anytime he says the word ‘Shazam.’ It starred Asher Angel as Billy Batson.

Through this chant, Billy may conjure marvellous magical powers and turn into his superhero avatar and an upgraded version of his future adult self. Zachary Levi portrays the classic tall, powerful, and strong adult version of him in the film. The superhero comedy was praised by critics and a huge hit with audiences, grossing a whopping USD 366 million worldwide.

Shazam 2’s director, David F. Sandberg, will be back in the director’s chair. There will also be a comeback of writer Henry Gayden, giving fans another more cause to celebrate. An exciting little behind-the-scenes teaser was published at the DC FanDome in 2021 to keep fans in the know and on their toes, displaying a bigger image crossing the actual world and the ‘Realm of the Gods.’ A new war against wicked gods will be the subject of the sequel.

With only nine months before the release of Shazam 2, director David F. Sandberg joked on Twitter that his film will triumph over James Cameron’s Avatar 2, which is planned to hit theatres on the same day as Shazam 2 on March 10, 2022.
