Lucifer star Tom Ellis is set to return to Netflix with “Exploding Kittens” produced by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels. Exploding Kittens – The Game will be available on Netflix in May, followed in 2023 by an adult animated comedy series starring Tom Ellis (Lucifer), Abraham Lim (The Boys), Lucy Liu (Elementary), Ally Maki (Cloak & Dagger), Mark Proksch (What We Do in the Shadows), and Sasheer Zamata (Home Economics).

Netflix saved Lucifer from cancellation by Fox, and now Tom Ellis is working with the streaming giant on Exploding Kittens which is very different from Lucifer. A TVLine report revealed that Netflix will create a series and smartphone app based on the card game Exploding Kittens, which is “a game for people who enjoy cats, explosions, laser beams, and goats.”

In the story of Exploding Kittens, God and the Devil are both sent to Earth in the form of chunky house cats, as the eternal conflict between Heaven and Hell reaches epic proportions.

The star of the show Lucy Lui wrote on Instagram “It’s all true!” Liu wrote on Instagram. “@theoatmeal @shanekosakowski reinvent adult animation with their new @netflix series #ExplodingKittens ! My hysterical cast-mates make me laugh til I cry.”

Adding to the excitement added Ellis said: “Very excited to be part of the new Netflix animated comedy series, Exploding Kittens – produced by comedy legends Mike Judge and Greg Daniels!!!!!”

Originally released for Kickstarter in 2015, Exploding Kittens has released numerous expansions since then. With this new version, it will be available next month for smartphones and Nintendo Switch. To play the new version of the game, you will need a Netflix account, so there will be no extra fees or in-app purchases.
