Black Lightning is considered one of the best superhero TV shows on The CW, it premiered in January, 2018. The show focuses on a character of the same name, it was made by Trevor Von Eeden and Tony Isabella for DC Comics. Season 2 of Black Lightning aired in October, 2018, season 3 in October, 2019 and the fourth season was released in February last year. The series is created by Salim Akil and is based on a Black superhero called Jefferson Pierce who happens to be a vigilante and can harness lightning, each season has thirteen to sixteen epsiodes. The protagonist tries to fix crime.
Black Lightning is one of the most-viewed series on The CW, it went well with those who are into supernatural fiction. Although, IMDB gave it just 6.1 scores out of 10. The main question which needs be addressed is whether the show will be renewed after season 4. The update is heartbreaking as The CW announced on November, 2020 that Black Lightning won’t be continued, there will be no fifth season. Hence, the fourth season must be considered as the finale. It is being said that the plummeting of viewership and rating led to this decision.
In the last season, the character of Jefferson Pierce is fighting Tobias Whale, the protagonist gets trapped ina coffic but succeeds in coming out of it via his superpowers. As Pierce escapes from the coffin, he finds Tobias and kills him. Tobias gets stabbed in his chest and pushed off from a window and gets electrocuted. In the climax, Jefferson’s character decides to retire and gives up his status of being a superhero. He tells his daughters and Grace Choi to be superhero. Similarly, Gambi also gives up being a superhero. In the end, Lala is released from jail and uncovers the body of Tobias.
Actor Cress Williams played Jefferson Pierce also known as Black Lightning, Nafessa Williams portrayed Thunder, China Anne McClain depicted the character of Lightning and Krondon played Tobias Whale.
