Along for the ride is not coming to Netflix in April 2022

Netflix’s upcoming movie ‘Along for the Ride‘ is all set to release on May 6, 2022. Earlier the release date for the movie was April 2022 but Netflix has later revealed that the movie is pushed to May instead. There is no confirmation on why the movie’s premiere date has moved a month far but it has been predicted that the movie was clashing with the upcoming TV series ‘ Heartstopper’ which is scheduled to premiere in April 2022. The series Heartstopper is a British coming of age aromatic drama, on the other hand, Along for the side is also a romantic movie, witnessing the clash of two romantic dramas, Netflix might realize to not release Along for the side in the same month and moved the date to May.

About the movie

Based on the novel of the same name written by Sarah Dessen, the movie is directed by Sofia Alvarez. In addition to Along for the Ride, Netflix has optioned four other books by Dessen for adaptation. Bryan Unkeless and Eric Newman of Screen Arcade are producing the project with Alyssa Rodrigues, Sian McArthur, and Erika Hampson serving as executive producers.

Along for the Ride Plot

Along for the Ride on Netflix is based on Sarah Dessen’s 2009 young adult novel of the same name. Dessen is an award-winning author of 15 titles in the genre. The logline of the movie describes the plot as: “The summer before college Auden meets the mysterious Eli, a fellow insomniac. While the seaside town of Colby sleeps, the two embark on a nightly quest to help Auden experience the fun, carefree teen life she never knew she wanted.”

The trailer gives us a glimpse into how those moments play out and how Auden learns that it’s ok to change who you are, as long as it’s not detrimental to you. Auden’s transformation in the trailer is quite evident as she builds her relationship with Eli. She starts as a hard-working teen who has devoted most of her time to studying and trying to succeed in class, but she leaves that side of her behind for a short time to relax and enjoy.

Auden will be portrayed by Emma Pasarow, while her love interest Eli will be played by Belmont Cameli (Saved by the Bell). Auden’s mother is played by Andie McDowell.
