Amy Schumer revealed that she received death threats following her joke on actress Kirsten Dunst in the Oscars. Amy Schumer cohosted this year’s Academy Award and joked that Kirsten Dunst, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress award, was a seat filler next to her husband Jesse Plemons, he was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film “The Power of the Dog” starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

She stated that she is getting backlash for this joke. On The Howard Stern Show, Schumer told, “I got death threats…..They were so bad that the Secret Service reached out to me about that bit. I’m like, ‘I think you have the wrong number. This is Amy, not Will. The misogyny is unbelievable.” She added that people tore into her, saying, “They were like, ‘Who do you think you are to disrespect Kirsten Dunst like that’?”. Unfortunately, the LAPD have to get involved.

The “I Feel Pretty” actress noted that she “did reach out to people that I was going to joke about before, and make sure it was okay with them”, such as Leonardo Di Caprio and Kirsten Dunst. Schumer made fun of the former for dating younger women. During the award ceremony, she chose Dunst to be the subject of her joke on seat filler, seat filler is someone who fills in for a celebrity whenever they leave their seat so that it is not seen empty on national television.

Therefore, Amy Schumer took the hand of Kirsten Dunst and removed her from her seat insinuating that the Spider Man star is a seat filler rather a celebrity. Later, the comedian took to her Instagram story to talk about those with whom the joke didn’t go down well, writing, “Hey I appreciate the love for Kirsten Dunst. I love her too! That was a choreographed bit she was in on. Wouldn’t disrespect that queen like that.”
