Season 5 of ‘Cobra Kai’ on Netflix: Everything We Know So Far

We’re now waiting for Netflix to announce a release date for Cobra Kai season 5 after filming has already concluded. Most predictions indicate that the game will be released in Summer 2022, but we’ll have to wait and see. Here’s a comprehensive look at everything we know so far about Cobra Kai season 5 on Netflix, including the production timeline, what to expect, cast news, and the show’s future.

Cobra Kai has already established itself as one of Netflix’s most successful continuations, comparable to Lucifer and Money Heist. The series already had a large and devoted fanbase from its time as a YouTube Red/Original series, but its popularity skyrocketed once it moved to Netflix.

According to Josh Heald, the writer’s room met in July 2021 to begin writing the fifth season.
Filming started on September 20th, 2021, and finished on December 19th, 2021.
The major portion of the show was once again filmed in Atlanta, Georgia. This season, however, we will be traveling because Miguel will be searching for his father in Mexico. Since then, Jon Hurwitz has confirmed that those episodes of Season 5 were shot in Puerto Rico.
After that, post-production began, and in early March 2022, we received word from Zach Robinson (the show’s long-time composer) that they were well into producing the score for the fifth season.

Season 5 of Cobra Kai: What to Expect

Terry Silver is free to completely take over Cobra Kai and spread the vision he has for the dojo now that Kreese has been framed for Sting Ray’s attack.
Expect a significant increase in new students as multiple new Cobra Kai dojos open across the Valley, potentially leading to hostilities between Cobra Kai and rival dojo students.
Silver’s plans will be “fully realized” in Season 5, according to Hurwitz, who also stated that the Cobra Kai franchise will be expanded.

Daniel LaRusso will continue to teach students at his Miyagi-Do dojo despite his inability to accept Cobra Kai’s dishonorable approach to winning the All Valley Tournament.
Daniel has enlisted the help of Chozen Toguchi, an old foe and new friend who is currently the sensei of Miyagi-Do karate in Okinawa, to aid him in his fight against Cobra Kai.
Following his relentless bullying of new-kid Kenny, Anthony attempted to make amends with the Cobra Kai student at the All Valley tournament, only for his bullied state to become the bully when they graduate to high school.

Robby and Tory to leave Cobra Kai?

Despite switching sides, Robby has attempted to find a middle ground between the Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai philosophies. His tragic realization that his mentoring of Kenny has resulted in the creation of a bully, one who intends to bully his ex-younger girlfriend’s brother, has prompted him to seek his father’s help.
Although Johnny will strongly encourage Robby to leave Cobra Kai, Robby may choose to stay with the dojo in order to atone for his mistakes in tutoring Kenny.
Tory, the All Valley’s women’s champion, overheard Terry paying off the referee, tarnishing her victory completely. She, like Robby, will come to a fork in the road that may lead her to abandon Cobra kai.

Miguel finds his father

Miguel is completely unaware that his biological father is unaware of his existence. Miguel may not only be a “bad man,” but if he finds his father, he may be opening a door in his life that he will never be able to close again.
Johnny intends to travel to Mexico City in order to locate his young student, but knowing Johnny, he’ll get himself into a lot of trouble, especially if Miguel’s father is involved.
If Johnny can persuade Miguel to return home, Miguel’s father will not be far behind.

Who are the Cobra Kai season 5 cast members?

We fully expect the vast majority of the Cobra Kai season 4 cast to return in season 5:

Despite the fact that the fifth season has already wrapped filming, we have yet to learn of any new cast members, particularly the casting of Miguel’s unnamed father.
We’ve had hints that some returning characters are on the way for the past few seasons’ finales. No hints were given for Season 5, but given that Terry Silver will be returning, some have speculated that Terry’s old friends, including Mike Barnes and Sean Kanan’s characters from Karate Kid 3, will appear. We’ll have to wait and see if they show up.
“There’s a lot of insanity; if you’re a fan of the franchise, maybe some familiar faces show up, maybe not; there’s going to be a lot of karate,” Jon Hurwitz said of the possibility of new faces appearing in Cobra Kai season 5.

When will Cobra Kai Season 5 be released?

Netflix has yet to confirm when the fifth season of Cobra Kai will be released, but now that filming has wrapped, we can give you an estimate, and it’s likely that we’ll get it sooner than previous seasons, which have all been released around the holidays.
Between January 20th and April 15th, 2021, the fourth season was filmed. In December 2021, it was finally released. If the fifth season follows a similar schedule, it could be released in July or August 2022.
In interviews, Josh Heald has stated that the show will be released in a similar pattern to the previous two seasons, but that the final decision will be made by Netflix.
