American stand-up comedian and actor, Gilbert Gottfried died at the age of 67 on April 12, 2022, from a rare genetic muscle disorder that can trigger a dangerously abnormal heartbeat. Reportedly, shortly after the announcement of Gottfried’s death, his Twitter account got hacked. On Tuesday, the comedian’s Twitter account was allegedly hacked by someone other than his teammates. His Twitter account’s bio was changed to “hacked by @yeatarchive on IG”. The account when investigated by the crew contains a series of indecent and filthy posts.

After the incident, Gottfried’s Twitter account was temporarily disabled and the crew took back the account safely after deleting all the absurd messages and posts. Apparently, the hacker took advantage of the opportunity of Gottfried’s death to promote their own Twitter account while they had the ID. According to Comicbook, The Daily Dot’s ‘Mikael Thalen’ confirmed that the account mentioned in Gottfried’s bio was not the hacker as they tried to contact the Instagrammer on the matter who denied any involvement in such actions.

Taking to his Twitter, Thalen revealed via a tweet, “The IG user, whois blamed for the hack in Gottfried’s bio, told me he’s not responsible and blamed two hackers on Twitter.” Many fans got furious with the hacker who tried to take advantage of such a tragic situation. As for the Twitter account, the situation is under control for now until the team finds out who is behind all this.

Gilbert Gottfried was known for voicing the parrot Iago in Disney’s 1992 animated film Aladdin. He also starred in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and House of Mouse. After hearing the tragic news of his death, social media was flooded with tributes. Linda Larkin who voiced Princess Jasmine in Aladdin posted a long note for him on Instagram. She said, “Our hearts are shattered at the loss of our beloved friend, collaborator, behind-the-scenes mischief-maker, and most irreverent spirit, full of light and magic. Gilbert Gottfried, you were one of a kind. The world was lucky to have you, and so were we,”
