Hollywood star Sean Penn is constantly using his influence and power to help Ukraine in light of Russia’s countless atrocities and shameful denial of the same. The 61 year old “Milk” star is busy in creating a documentary film which documented the escalation of conflict since 2021 and Sean Penn also went to Ukraine to see for himself the situation at the ground level in the war-torn nation. Following his experience witnessing the humanitarian and civilian crisis, Sean Penn gave an interview to the Hollywood Authentic and stated that he was thinking about taking up arms against Russia.

In the interview, Sean Penn said, “If you’ve been in Ukraine fighting has to cross your mind. And you kind of think what century is this? Because I was at the gas station in Brentwood the other day and I’m now thinking about taking up arms against Russia? What the f**k is going on? The only possible reason for me staying in Ukraine longer last time would’ve been for me to be holding a rifle, probably without body armour, because as a foreigner, you would want to give that body armour to one of the civilian fighters who doesn’t have it or to a fighter with more skills than I have, or to a younger man or woman who could fight for longer or whatever.”

The Ukrainian embassy responded to the film created by Sean Penn which documented the wicked face of Russian authoritarianism, “Sean Penn demonstrates the courage that many others, especially Western politicians lack. The more such people in our country now, true friends of Ukraine, who support the struggle for freedom, the sooner it will be possible to stop Russia’s treacherous attack.” During his interview with Hollywood Authentic, Sean Penn narrated his meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky “the day before the invasion” and was with Zelensky “during the invasion, on day one”. About Zelensky, Penn told, “It struck me that I was now looking at a guy who knew that he had to rise to the ultimate level of human courage and leadership. I think he found out that he was born to do that.”

This is not the first time the two time Academy award and one time Golden Globe winner has stepped up to help people in crisis, in 2005 Penn went to New Orleans, Louisiana during Hurricane Katrina to rescue people trapped in the storm.
