Father Stu, Mark Wahlberg’s new film, will be released in theatres over the Easter weekend in April and will eventually be available on Netflix in many regions around the world, including the United States. Here’s a rough timeline for when Father Stu will be available on Netflix following its theatrical run.
Rosalind Ross directed and wrote this story, which is based on the true story of a boxer who is diagnosed with IBM and eventually becomes a Catholic priest.
The new film will be released exclusively in theatres in the United States on April 13th. Along with Wahlberg, the film stars Jacki Weaver and Mel Gibson.

When will Father Stu be available on Netflix?

For the first time, new Sony films are arriving on Netflix in the Pay-1 window on a regular basis. That means it’ll join Netflix for a year and a half after the theatrical window closes, before moving on to Disney streaming services in this case.
Following Uncharted and Morbius, Father Stu will be the third major Sony film to be released on Netflix as part of this new deal.
We don’t have an exact timeline for Sony’s theatrical window yet, but based on when movies went to Starz, they were dropped anywhere from 155 to 225 days after their theatrical debut.

Peter Rabbit 2 will be released in 184 days as part of Netflix’s animation first window deal with Sony. That would put the release date of the film in October 2022.
In that case, Father Stu is set to release sometime between September and December 2022, but we’ll have to wait and see when Uncharted comes out first to get a better idea of how this deal will play out.
The film will then be available to stream on Netflix throughout 2023 and early 2024, with Hulu likely becoming its new streaming home after that.

Will Father Stu be available on Netflix in other countries?

Yes, is most likely the answer, but unlike the United States, we are not kept up to date on regional specifics.
Instead, we can look at how previous Sony films have been released on Netflix and assume that they will follow a similar release pattern this time. To reiterate, these regions and dates are purely speculative, based on previous Sony films that have appeared on Netflix. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
Netflix India appears to have a first window deal as well (Ghostbusters: Afterlife has just arrived on Netflix India), so Father Stu should be available by the end of 2022.

Many Netflix regions, including the United Kingdom, Canada, and the majority of Europe, appear to get new Sony films in or around two years after their theatrical debut. In that case, Father Stu will arrive in or around 2023-24.
Other regions will most likely have to wait even longer, but keep an eye on our Netflix latest page for updates on what’s coming to Netflix near you.
In any case, you’ll be seeing a lot more of Mark Wahlberg on Netflix in the coming years. Me Time, his film with Kevin Hart, is set to be released on Netflix in 2022, and production on his next project, Our Man From Jersey, is set to begin soon.
