Single’s Inferno was officially renewed for a second season by the streaming giant earlier today (April 12). The first season of Single’s Inferno, which aired from December 2021 to January this year, followed 12 single men and women on a deserted island as they got to know one another in the hopes of finding love.
“The world’s hottest inferno.” “Even hotter,” reads the caption that accompanied a new clip for the upcoming second season of Netflix Korea’s Single’s Inferno, which was posted to Instagram by Netflix Korea. “Single’s Inferno returns for a second season.”

The show is currently casting contestants for the upcoming second season through Netflix’s social media accounts, according to Korea JoongAng Daily. “With their honest and confident charm, we’re looking for singles who can achieve love,” Netflix said.
In January, The Silent Sea, Squid Game, and Our Beloved Summer became the first-ever South Korean reality show to enter Netflix’s global non-English Top 10 TV ranking, joining hits like The Silent Sea, Squid Game, and Our Beloved Summer. It also helped the show’s contestants gain notoriety, as many of them are social media influencers, YouTubers, and models.

What’s the big deal about this?

“Single’s Inferno” was practically a social media sensation when it premiered late last year. It also spent three consecutive weeks in the Global Netflix Top 10 (Non-English TV List), peaking at #4.
The reality show follows a group of physically appealing individuals for nine days on a deserted island (“inferno”), all in the hopes of securing the object of their affections.
Those who successfully pair up with a member of the opposite sex are given the opportunity to leave the island and travel to “paradise” where they will spend a night in a hotel suite together. Those who don’t succeed sulk in their tents.

The cruelty of rejection haunting the contestants, who are usually the cream of the crop when it comes to the dating world outside of the show, might appeal to mere mortals like us.
But, because everyone else on the island is equally, if not more attractive, it all comes down to personality and vibe.
You get a reality TV sensation when you combine tension, competition, and awkwardness. Of course, one could argue that YouTuber Song-Ji-A carried the show to fame on his own.

The casting procedure

Producer Kim Na-hyun previously stated that if Season 2 is approved, she expects a new batch of “charming contestants” to apply.
If you were curious about the origins of the Season 1 contestants, there were several possibilities.
Aside from applicants who saw the recruitment posters, Kim revealed that the crew also searched hashtags on social media for #girlswhoworkout and #guyswhoworkout.
When they “needed something new.” the crew reached out to PR teams at colleges and companies, and even handed out flyers on the streets.
