Recently, controversial environmental personality and public-speaker Sadhguru appeared on The Daily Show hosted by Trevor Noah. Trolls and netizens began harassing and threatening Trevor Noah for not discussing with the politically woke individuals on social media before inviting Sadhguru, who is known for his knowledge-filled lectures and productive discussions. Several accounts online falsely accused him of promoting “Islamophobia” and other problematic stuff. Trevor Noah found himself the target of attacks for not taking the permission of the “politically correct community” and the woke mob for having a civil, productive and much needed discussion on environment and nature. Even an Indian stand-up comedian asked Noah why he invited “this excuse of a human being” to his show.
This is a strange development since late-night talk show hosts in America do not need prior public approval or should consult with their viewers before inviting someone to their show. Considering that infamous extremists who have expressed traitorous views (Yasin Malik), advocated the idea of disintegration of their own country (Kanhaiya Kumar) and downplayed terrorist acts (Ilhan Omar) have not only been invited to speak in public events, in interview but also fought the elections, it really seems unfair to go after Sadhguru who has never done anything which casts a question on his personality and perspective.
Known for his Save Soil Movement, during the discussion Trevor Noah and Sadhguru did not talked about politics and very eloquently explained how politicians and corporate players are causing the destruction of this planet. He said that he has appealed to more than seven hundred political parties to incorporate environmental topics and nature in their politics, speeches and manifestos. Sadhguru represented the Indian culture beautifully and genuinely, everything he shared was rational.
Unfortunately, the current generation is known for creating problems rather than solving it, while “political-correctness” and wokeism is weakening the ability to analyse, it is also giving effect to micro-aggression in a world which is battling a war between Ukraine and Russia, record level of inflation, high unemployment, threat of religious extremism etc.
